Class Actions
A class action is a type of lawsuit where select individuals, called Class Representatives or Lead Plaintiffs, represent the interest of a group of individuals who have been injured by a similar product or service. These individuals are usually not named in the lawsuit, but may be entitled to any recovery and are called Class Members.
A class action lawsuit is filed to resolve legal issues where individual claims cannot be justified. For Example: a class action lawsuit may be filed when individuals in a group has sustained injuries and damages too small to pay the legal fees and costs required to bring action. The lawsuit allows for the damages of all class members to be combined to ensure that every individual and their attorneys are compensated.
